The CIBA-ABIC and the Ontario Intercollegiate Women Fastpitch Association (OIWFA) have taken steps to close the gender equity issue at the post-seconday level with respect to baseball and fastball.
By promoting each others association on their respective websites CIBA-ABIC president Kevin Bullock states, "It shows Universities and Colleges that baseball and fastball are viable sports in this country at the post secondary level. We are proud to promote the OIWFA and could have more potential sponsorship opportunities knowing that we can go to these sponsors representing both men and women. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved."
The CIBA-ABIC has been operating since 1996 with 14 teams currently representing the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
The OIWFA currently operates in Ontario representing 12 post-secondary institutions. Information regarding the OIWFA including results of games played can be viewed at www.oiwfa.org. |
