McGill Redbirds captured their first National Championship by sweeping away the competition at the Ottawa tournament. The Birds went undfeated and capped the weekend with a wet and cold 8-0 romp over the Dalhousie Tigers of the Atlantic Conference. The long-awaited victory ended a long drought for the school which has not won a men's national title in any sport since 1997.

Voters in the CIBA/ABIC on-line poll were just as wet as those who attended the National Championship in Ottawa. While those present were drenched with cold rain, the pollsters were all wet, figuratively.
